After debating for about twenty minutes whether or not to play, we ended up jumping right into it. It was planned to be a quick session- it ended up just over two hours- to introduce the character and the setting. Here entails the journey of our faithful adventurers! Enjoy!
DAWN OF THE FIRST DAY
- 72 Hours Remain -
Felmas, the devoted Zoran musician, has been waiting for these few days for many months. As he nears the looming city of Clocktown, leaving the Great Bay behind him, he smiles and can’t help but whistle. Surely, soon he will be able to meet the Indigo-Go’s, a renowned Zoran musical troupe. He arrives late in the evening, just before the three days prior to the carnival, and rents himself a bed in the Stock Pot Inn.
Awakening the next morning, fully rested and content, he steps out the door, intent on finding the whereabouts of the musical troupe. It’s at this point that he notices the citizens of Clocktown staring up at the sky, expressions of confusion- and on some, terror- clear on their faces. Approaching a nearby guard, Felmas questions him as to who’s balloon- or what type of trickery it might be. In a panic, as more townsfolk begin to gather around, he blows sharply on his whistle, alerting another guard presence.
“Alert the mayor! Let him know!”
Sadly, he does nothing to comfort or aid the citizens, leaving most to wander off. Felmas, after speaking with a juggler and group of boys referring to themselves as The Bombers, he heads to the market, eager to wash the bad taste from his mouth. Within the market, he is accosted by a small dog and the unnerving glaces of the townspeople. Caring not for the glances, he begins to play a marching tune on his fiddle, much to the delight of many. The dog quits his whining and begins to trail behind, orderly and content, while children tag behind him. Nearly to the other end of the market, he finishes the tune with a flourish, grin, and turns the other way to see a pair of lovely red-headed women sitting on a horse-drawn carriage…
Narima Tazhek, a follower of the Goddesses and holy knight, has spent the last few weeks travelling across the Sands of Rage in order to fulfill her god-given purpose. After camping at the edge of Termina field, she awakes in the morning to find the face of the moon staring down at her and Clocktown. Thinking back to what an old man in the desert once told her, she pauses thoughtfully to stare at it before packing her camp and moving on.
Upon her approach to the plateau bearing Clocktown, she sees a carriage stopped near a massive hollow felled tree at the south end of the field. Interested to see what’s happening, she detours to pass by it. She is able to come right up to the edge of it and rasp her gauntleted knuckles against the seat. The woman seated there gives a bit of a jump before saying hello, introducing herself as Cremia. She explains that she is delivering milk to the town for the celebration, and that she helps run Romani Ranch. Finding Narima strange, yet interesting, the two talk for a while before deciding to set into the town. It’s at this point that she introduces a second, hidden passenger, by the name of Ilya. The white-haired woman nods, offering a quick greeting before returning to the rear of the cart.
Wordlessly, they enter the southern gate, decorated in many bright paints in celebration of the carnival. Through this gate, they pass through the crowded Market District, where at least a hundred people wander the streets to peruse the wares of vendors. After watching the Post-man head out and noting the Bank nearby, they quickly pass through to the main attraction of Clocktown- the Clock Tower. The tower is truly massive, and even now men scale the sides hanging banners across the massive rocky slab. From beyond, they hear the end of a familiar tune, and a Zora- rare for these parts- turns and bows. The crowd applauds, then disperses. Her eyes meet with the Zora’s…
Narima thanks Cremia for her time and is about to inquire after where she is staying before she notices that the Felmas is heading her way as well. After beginning conversation and bidding Cremia goodbye, the two get to talking. It’s only after a bit do they notice that they’re being watched. Ilya, the woman from the cart, has been listening in on their conversation from the shadows, likely having slipped off the cart without their noticing. Calling her out, they begin to speak- though she seems uninterested in talking. After proclaiming his need for water, the group begin heading around town, looking for various watery points.
Leaving an awkward moment with a guard behind them, they depart from the Clock Tower pool and find the isolated Laundry Pool. With nobody cleaning, they have a moment to talk with the white haired stranger and to each other, getting to know one another. Determined to help Ilya find her strange green-clad target and help Felmas meet the Indigo-Go’s, the world fades to black…
