Legend of Zelda: An RPG to the Past
Age of Prosperity
An era of peace followed the tumultuous decades of the previous age, and a new sense of unity brought the Hylians together. Those with Hylia‘s blood, long leaders of the Hylians, established the kingdom of Hyrule in this age, and the Royal Family governed Hyrule for countless generations. Still gifted with Hylia’s essence, they continued their sacred duties of the ages before, the Sheikah still serving them as they had once served the Goddess. Many of the young women born to the Royal Family would be named Zelda, in honor of the ancient legend.
However such peace can never last without hardship. The new kingdom was still young when it was beset by fierce monsters and beasts seemingly all at once, plaguing the lands. Whether these creatures were remnants of the demonic forces of ages past or wayward armies of the Dark Interlopers none can say. All that is known is that these vile entities and spirits grew in number and strength as time went by, and Hyrule teetered on the brink of collapse before it could even properly begin.
A Hero of Men stepped forward to combat the tide of shadow, and fought valiantly to quell the enemies of the Hylians. Without the Master Sword or the Triforce this noble warrior fought a losing battle and yet kept fighting. Perhaps it was recognition of this hero’s deeds that the mysterious Picori race appeared. Legend tells that they descended from the sky, a miniscule people gifted with great skill in magic and craftsmanship. They bestowed upon the Hero of Men two special gifts of their people: an enchanted sword called the Picori Blade, and a boon by making the Hero’s life force radiate with the sacred light of the Goddesses, the Light Force that some believe is manifest in every natural being.
These gifts allowed the Hero of Men to slay the monsters, and subdue the black magic that had created them in the first place. Not wanting to see that foul energy reconstitute elsewhere in the world, the Hero used the Light Force to lock the souls of the beasts in a magical chest. The Hero’s Life Force radiated so strongly that it was tangible, and when the Hero’s task was complete, it was granted to the Royal Family for safekeeping, manifesting the divine bloodline of the Goddess Hylia.
Intriguingly, the name, gender and age of the Hero of Men remains a complete mystery, though this person’s legendary actions have remained. It is possible that the Hero was of the Hylian bloodline, or perhaps a reincarnation of the Hero’s spirit.
